how will you spend your turkey day?

We are hosting a batch of East Coast & Cali orphans in our Austin, Texas backyard.
I recruit whenever possible. That way, I also feel surrounded by my people here in the heartland.
I am asking people to bring a kick-ass poem to read before dinner... not quite as cheesy as the Torrisi family rituals, but still something besides gorging ourselves to commemorate the holiday.

What are we grateful for this year?
GOOD ART
BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE
SQUEEZING 12 PEOPLE, 1 BABY & 1 WILEY PUPPY INTO A 1BEDROOM APT.
i imagine it'll look something like this....

Our landlord is the quintessential South Austin hippie... he's deep frying turkey -- we will most definitely get in on that. (Using our winning puppy Penny Moon to lead the way if necessary.)

Here's the menu so far.

Turkey
Shrimp cornbread stuffing
Zucchini watercress soup (mama torrisi's recipe)
Squash stuffed squash (i call it squished squash)
Mango spinach salad
Tim's upstate NY apple pie
Pumpkin pop tarts
Hot toddies to drink

What's on yours? What're we missing? Post any decadent photos to www.facebook.com/thePleasePleaseMe

Make me jealous. Happy happy happy. I love spending this holiday with friends.
